Phyllis Tuckwell’s In-Patient Unit (IPU) rooms all contain a memory board, which family and friends can write messages on for their loved one to read when they aren’t there.
Tricia, who is staying on the IPU, is visited by her sons, Mark and Wayne, and her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. The family have written lots of messages on her whiteboard telling her that they love her, including one message in Welsh, as Tricia’s family are from Wales. One of her great-granddaughters, Luna, painted her a picture of some daffodils, which was put on the board using magnets.
“I feel loved,” said Tricia, as she looked at the board.

The In-Patient Unit (IPU) is currently located in Camberley where we have 10 single en-suite rooms.
Each room has a television, and patients have access to a telephone and CD player if requested.
Priority is always given to ensure that the dignity and privacy of our patients is maintained at all times.
Treating you as an individual
Your individual needs and preferences are very important to us and we will work with you to help you achieve personal goals and aspirations during your time with us.
You may be referred to our Hospice In-Patient Unit by your GP, District Nursing team, hospital, or by a Phyllis Tuckwell healthcare professional. This may be for assessment, symptom management, pain relief, or for end of life care. Some patients who are admitted for symptom control are discharged back home after a few days, when their symptoms have been stabilised.
Our In-Patient Unit is led by a ward manager and medical consultants, with a team of registered nurses, health care assistants, doctors and specialties such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, welfare advice, counselling, pastoral care and complementary therapy. We provide 24-hour personalised care for patients, as well as support for family members and carers.
We have a bright and welcoming Family Room. There is also a spacious garden with seating area.
Everything we do at Phyllis Tuckwell is provided to ensure that our patients and their families are cared for and supported. We hope you will have a good experience of our Hospice Care.
