We’re thrilled to announce that the construction of your new Hospice is now complete! The doors will be opening soon, and patients, carers and visitors will be welcomed into this amazing new space.
This new building marks the beginning of a transformative chapter in the way we provide our specialist care. It will be a springboard for boosting the number of people we support, helping us to care for 3,000 people a year by 2040. In the coming weeks, we’ll focus on safely moving our patients, staff and volunteers back to the Hospice, with the aim of being fully operational there by mid-June.
Designed for comfort, dignity, and modern clinical excellence, your new Hospice includes: 18 ensuite inpatient rooms with facilities for loved ones to stay overnight; a wellbeing and rehabilitation centre, helping people live well with advanced illness; a dedicated education suite to build skills for our staff and others working in palliative and end of life care; a welcoming café; comfortable family rooms so children and extended families can be close; clinical and consulting rooms to provide outpatient care; and beautifully landscaped gardens where patients and families can connect with nature. Every feature has been thoughtfully crafted to support the people we care for — today and for decades to come.
“We’re thrilled to announce this major milestone in our charity’s history, and are looking forward to moving into the new Hospice, where we will have the space and facilities to provide our exceptional care for many more people, for years to come,” said Sarah Church, our chief executive. “This extraordinary achievement has only been made possible thanks to the generosity of our community, supporters, staff, volunteers, and partners. Together, we have created a space where compassion, expertise, and dignity come together under one roof. Thank you all so much for your support.”

The new Hospice opening comes shortly after the recent opening of our new charity shop and donation centre in Pew Corner, Artington. Our charity shops raise a huge amount of money to support our care – last year they raised over £3m! They offer amazing, preloved items which our shoppers love. Our Pew Corner shop has rails of preloved high street, retro and vintage clothes, shoes and accessories, CDs, DVDs, books, games and toys. It even sells furniture and homeware, too! It has a large donation centre towards the back, so if you’re having a sort out and find that you have some fantastic, quality items that you no longer want, simply pop in and drop them off.
Our Pew Corner shop will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and donations are welcome at any time during these opening hours. Our shops offer sustainable shopping that’s good for the planet, at low prices that are good for your wallet, and every penny raised goes towards funding our vital care.
