Phyllis Tuckwell is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive, who will be joining the charity in mid-March next year. Sarah Church CB will be taking over the role from the charity’s current Chief Executive, Sarah Brocklebank, who retires in March.

Sarah has worked in DEfRA since 2002, having previously worked in the Cabinet Office, No. 10 Policy Unit and Welsh Office. In 2016, when Director of DEfRA, she was appointed Companion to the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (CB). Most recently, Sarah has spent two years working within DEfRA’s Commercial Directorate supporting the Common Agricultural Policy Delivery Programme, and as Head of DEfRA’s Estate.

Michael Maher, Chair of the Board at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We are very excited by Sarah’s appointment and look forward to introducing her to the team next year. She is a confident people-person who values her team highly and has amassed a wealth of experience through an impressive career within the Civil Service. Currently on the Fast Track programme for those destined for senior roles, she was seeking a career change to find a Chief Executive role in a value-driven organisation. Phyllis Tuckwell is the perfect fit.”

Sarah has lived in and around the local area for much of her life and is excited to be joining the organisation.  She said: “I’ve been very impressed with the passion and commitment of the people I met at Phyllis Tuckwell. Having just celebrated 40 years since they cared for their first patients, it is a very exciting time for this well-known local charity. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and leading the charity through the next phase of their care to local people in our community.”
