Shooting Star Easter Party
21 April 2019
It was a day of smiles and sunshine at Christopher’s as supported children and their families welcomed lots of furry friends and enjoyed some fun activities and entertainment at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Easter Party.
Children had a chance to say hello to new born lambs, Shetland ponies, guinea pigs, ducklings and even some chicks, all of which were very happy to be stroked and cuddled by little hands.
There was entertainment from Mr Giant the balloon man, David and Katie children’s entertainers and a visit from Sunny Sunflower and even an Easter chick – who quickly made friends with our care staff and volunteers.
The warm spring weather meant there was lots of fun to be had in the garden, with a chance to play on the trampoline and swings as well as take part in a special Easter Scavenger Hunt.
There was even more to do inside with Easter Bonnet making and a chance to decorate your own sensory lamb, using tactile things such as popcorn and fluffy materials.
Head of Care at Christopher’s Anne Bridgman said, “We all had such a lovely time at the Easter Party. It’s such a great opportunity for the children to meet the animals as we have a lot of children who are sensory deprived or with poor eyesight so it’s wonderful for them to be able to see, touch and smell them. We are very grateful to all our visitors and to our hardworking care staff and wonderful volunteers who all helped to put on such an amazing party, giving families a chance to create some precious memories and times together.”
